Applying a serial number to Xackup 2 activates all premium features and ensures your license is properly registered. This guide walks you through the process step-by-step.


Getting Started

Step 1: Open the Settings Window

  1. Launch Xackup 2 on your computer
  2. Click the Settings button or menu option (usually in the main toolbar or File menu)
  3. The Settings dialog will open

Step 2: Navigate to the Licensing Tab

  1. In the Settings dialog, look for the Licensing tab at the top
  2. Click on the Licensing tab to view the license activation options

Entering Your Serial Number

Step 3: Find the Serial Number Field

You should see a form with the following fields:

  • Serial Number (text input field) — This is where you'll enter your serial number
  • License Type (read-only) — Shows your license type once activated
  • Registrant Name (read-only) — Shows the registered owner's name
  • Company (read-only) — Shows the registered company name
  • Expiry Date (read-only) — Shows when your license expires

Step 4: Enter Your Serial Number

  1. Click in the Serial Number field
  2. Carefully type or paste your serial number
    • Tip: Serial numbers are case-sensitive. Make sure to match the capitalization exactly
    • Tip: If you copied it from an email or document, paste it carefully to avoid typos

Activating Your License

Step 5: Check Your Serial Number (Optional)

Before activating, you can verify your serial number:

  1. Click the Check link to verify your serial number is valid
  2. The system will contact the licensing server and display any licenses associated with your serial number
  3. Review the license details (name, company, product type, expiration date, and remaining activations)
  4. If the information is correct, proceed to Step 6

What to do if "Check" fails:

  • Verify your serial number is entered correctly (no extra spaces)
  • Ensure your computer has internet access
  • If the serial number is incorrect, contact Fungusware support

Step 6: Activate Your License

  1. Click the Activate link button (or similar activation button)

  2. The system will:

    • Validate your serial number
    • Contact the Fungusware licensing server
    • Register your license on this computer
    • Download and save your license file
  3. Wait for confirmation — The activation process may take a few moments

Step 7: Confirm Successful Activation

When activation is complete, you'll see:

  • ✅ A success message stating "All features of Xackup 2 are now available"
  • 📋 A note about reusing the serial number on another machine (you must deactivate it first)
  • 📊 The License Type, Registrant Name, Company, and Expiry Date fields will now be populated with your license information
  • 🔒 The Serial Number field becomes read-only (locked)
  • 🔴 The Deactivate link becomes active

What Happens After Activation

Your License is Now Active

  • All premium features are immediately available
  • Your license information is saved on your computer
  • You can close the Settings dialog

When Your License Expires

  • Xackup 2 will continue to work but may show a warning
  • Premium features will be disabled
  • To renew, contact Fungusware and obtain a new serial number

If You See an Expiration Warning

  • The warning states: "Only Days remaining!"
  • You should renew your license before it expires to avoid loss of premium features
  • Contact Fungusware support for renewal options

Advanced Options

Manual License Activation

If you cannot connect to the Fungusware licensing server:

  1. Check the Manual License checkbox
  2. Also check Use Proxy if your network requires a proxy server
  3. Follow the prompts to manually activate your license

Resetting Activations

If you need to use your serial number on a different computer:

  1. Click the Reset link to restore your activation count
  2. You'll be able to activate on a new machine
  3. Note: You may need to deactivate the license on the current machine first

Deactivating Your License

To use your serial number on a different computer:

  1. Before changing computers, click the Deactivate link in Settings
  2. You'll see a confirmation message
  3. Your license is now free to be activated on another machine
  4. If deactivation fails, you may choose to forcefully remove it

Important: Always deactivate before moving your license to preserve your activation count.


Troubleshooting

"Serial Number Missing" Error

  • Problem: You clicked Activate without entering a serial number
  • Solution: Type your serial number in the Serial Number field and try again

"Incorrect Serial Number" Error

  • Problem: The serial number is not valid or not found in the system
  • Solution:
    • Double-check the serial number spelling and formatting
    • Ensure you copied it correctly (no extra spaces)
    • Contact Fungusware support if you believe the serial number is correct

Activation Fails with Connection Error

  • Problem: The system cannot contact the Fungusware licensing server
  • Solution:
    • Verify your internet connection
    • Check if your firewall is blocking access
    • Try again in a few moments (server may be temporarily unavailable)
    • Use Manual License activation as an alternative

"No License" or Unrecognized Product Error

  • Problem: Your serial number is for a different Fungusware product
  • Solution:
    • Verify you're using the correct serial number for Xackup 2
    • Contact Fungusware support if you purchased Xackup 2

License Already Activated on Another Computer

  • Problem: You're trying to activate on a second computer but your activation limit is reached
  • Solution:
    • Deactivate the license on the other computer first (see "Deactivating Your License" section)
    • Then activate it on your current computer
